Norman Finkelstein at EMU
Norman Finkelstein will be appearing at EMU to discuss his book, "Beyond Chutzpah: On the Misuse of Anti-Semitism and the Abuse of History."
When: Thursday, October 27 at 1:30 pm
Where: EMU's Wise Hall Main Lounge on Ann Street in Ypsi; parking is on Ann St
Why: Finkelstein's book discredits "The Case for Israel" by Alan Dershowitz as a fraud--not only for presenting false facts, but for having plagiarized them from a previous book that has been discredited. But much more than that--it exposes an unmistakable pattern of the corruption of scholarship on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
"Bringing to bear the latest findings on the conflict and recasting the scholarly debate, Finkelstein points to a consensus among historians and human rights organizations on the factual record. Why, then, does so much controversy
swirl around the conflict? Finkelstein's answer, copiously documented, is that apologists for Israel contrive controversy. Whenever Israel comes under international pressure, another media campaign alleging a global outbreak of anti-Semitism is mounted." -from www.normanfinkelstein.com
This event is co-sponsored by Students Allied for Freedom and
Equality, The Planet, Jewish Witnesses for Peace and
Friends, and the Middle East Task Force.
